9th Wonder verdedigt o.a. Lil Yachty en Lil Uzi Vert in new school vs. old school discussie

Producer 9th Wonder verdedigt Lil Yachty, Lil Uzi Vert en andere "new school" rappers in de discussie die de laatste tijd veel speelt in de rapscene. Veel oudere rappers die al een aantal jaar meelopen in de game hebben commentaar op de stijl van muziek van de nieuwe generatie en op hun kennis van de Hip Hop geschiedenis. De discussie werd aangewakkerd toen Lil Yachty geen 5 nummers van 2Pac of Biggie kon opnoemen.
De producer heeft nu op Twitter een betoog van heel wat meer dan 140 tekens gegeven. Volgens hem moeten mensen accepteren dat dit nu eenmaal een andere generatie is en Lil' Uzi Vert, Kodak Black etc. met rust laten. Ook noemt hij het hypocriet aangezien zijn eigen generatie waarschijnlijk ook weinig muziek van twintig jaar eerder kon opnoemen toen zij achttien waren:
