Quincy Promes overweegt om voorgoed in Rusland te gaan wonen: “Russia is like Dubai”

Quincy Promes was te gast bij de podcast Say Less Global. De makers van de podcast waren speciaal naar Dubai gevlogen om de voetballer te spreken. Hoewel de aflevering vooral focust op de voetbalcarrière van Promes, geeft hij op een verfrissende manier zijn kijk op de toekomst. Wanneer het gesprek gaat over zijn ervaringen in het Russische voetbal, blikt Promes eerst met trots terug op zijn tijd daar, voordat hij zichtbaar geëmotioneerd raakt.
“I’m very grateful and, God’s willing, I will return to Russia very soon,” vertelt Promes. “We never know, you know. It’s all in God’s hands. I still have unfinished business there.”

Wanneer de podcast-host vraagt of hij zeker is van een terugkeer naar Rusland, onderstreept Promes zijn standpunt: “I don’t care if I’m 40; as long as I can run and move, bro, it’s not over. It will never be,” aldus Promes.
De host vraagt vervolgens of Promes zichzelf daar ooit voorgoed ziet wonen. “Definitely. Russia is not only cold,” legt Promes uit. “Russia is a beautiful country. It’s like Dubai, yeah, but with history because you have old buildings, you have art, you have all the top restaurants. You have whatever you think of. Nothing is impossible in Moscow.”
In de podcast vertelt Promes o.a. ook hoe Ajax zijn hart brak toen hij in de jeugdopleiding moest vertrekken, hoe hij uiteindelijk bij FC Twente belandde en wie zijn vrienden in de voetbalwereld zijn.
