Tyler, The Creator staat bekend om zijn aparte manier van meningsuitingen en om hoe hij dit soms vertaalt naar zijn kledingstijl. Het laatste shirt dat hij heeft ontworpen deed veel stof opwaaien.
Op het shirt combineert hij namelijk een logo uit de neo-nazistische community met het Gay-Pride logo. Klinkt vreemd, maar uiteraard heeft Tyler hier een uitgebreide uitleg voor. Kan ook niet anders, want de combinatie van deze twee logo's kan niet gedachteloos gebruikt worden.
Allereerst is het misschien handig om te weten dat Tyler, The Creator door sommigen wordt gezien als een 'homo-hater'. Wat echter opmerkelijk is, is dat een goede vriend van hem Frank Ocean is. Als we dan ook een kijkje nemen op zijn uitleg over het bovenstaande shirt, blijkt dat van homofobie weinig terug te zien is.

Hij legt uit dat hij de kracht uit iets achterlijks (neo-nazisme) wilt halen door de foto waar hij op staat. De gebruikte kracht is de complete tegenstrijdigheid van symboliek, kleur en personen op de foto.
Zelf zegt hij:
'Now it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know that these guys aren’t fans of Blacks, Gays, Asians or anything else that doesn’t fit in “white” box. Now having the thought process that i have, i asked myself some questions: What if a black guy wore this logo on a shirt? Would he be promoting self hate? Would he be taking the power out of a shape? What if a gay guy wore this on a shirt? Would he promoting Homophobia? Then BAM! I Had it'.
Over zijn mogelijk homofobie door zijn woordgebruik in tracks zegt hij het volgende:
'I WAS NEVER REFERRING TO SOMEONES SEXUAL PREFERENCE WHEN USING THAT WORD. I mean, i’m legit one of the least homophobic guys to walk this earth but, most people just read the surface. But maybe someone will see this photo and say “ hey, he’s just mocking gays” or “ this has a negative undertone to it, he is still pushing this homophobic whatever the f*ck it is.'
